He received his BM in Composition at Cal State Fullerton, where he studied under Ken Walicki and Pam Madsen. He is currently studying Composition at Claremont Graduate University under Peter Boyer. Dilbeck was awarded the James V. Henriques Award (2016), the Alan A. Mannason Award (2017), the Undergraduate Compositon Area Award (2018), and a Music Fellowship at Claremont Graduate University (2019).
